Bio

Soft Bodies is a collection of songwriters and musicians based mostly in Leicester in the UK. We are currently writing songs, recording demos and searching for vocalists.

Soft Bodies

So you’ll be wanting a list of influences. These things inevitably are very useful for alienating people and are impossible to compile. We agree much more readily about which bands we despise than those we like, but let’s not get overly negative this early.

Here are a few safe options: The Smiths, Talking Heads, The Aphex Twin, David Bowie, The Foo Fighters, Pixies, Elvis Costello, Joy Division, Prince, Björk, XTC, The Divine Comedy, Jane’s Addicition, Public Image Limited, The Dead Kennedys etcetera...

Soft Bodies

Written out like that it’s an incredibly bland list. And it isn’t even useful information for describing our sound. You should really listen to some of our demos. We write music in several different genres so you’ll probably find something you like. The common theme that all our songs share is a kind of blackly humourous indifference, so your sense of humour is probably the best indicator of whether you’ll like us or not.

At the moment we are searching for vocalists to help complete some of these demos. You will notice that many of them have rough guide vocals which need re-recording. If you think you have something to add to these tracks, get in touch with Soft Bodies.

Wanted!

We are currently looking for singers to contribute vocals to our demos.

Many of the songs already have lyrics and melodies - they just need proper vocals recording.

Head over to the MP3s page and download some of our demos. We write in several styles so there’s likely to be something that appeals to you. If you’re interested, get in touch with us and tell us a little bit about yourself and your influences.

We are based in Leicester in the UK, so people located here or nearby would be preferable. However, we’re interested in anyone with talent and are willing to collaborate via the web if necessary.

“Spin around,
And smile soft focus,
What’s your name?
What’s your name...?”

“Like a wart on the chin of a beautiful child,
Your hang up’s a blemish,
On an otherwise near perfect life...”
